NOTICE OF RACE

The CR 914 Class and the South Florida Model Sailing Club cordially invites sailors to participate

in the CR 914 Class 2016 Midwinter Regatta.

1. Venue

• Sailing: C.B. Smith Park, Shoreline Shelter #17, Pembroke Pines/FL

• Social: to be announced

2. Rules

The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2012 – 2016 (latest

version), appendix E to the RRS, rules of the CR914 Class and the Sailing Instructions.

• The Sailing Instructions, and any modifications to the RRS and Odd/Even format

will be available to each skipper at registration

• There shall be no appeal of Judge’s Decision that could affect a boat’s promotion

relegation per RRS 70.4(a).

• The maximum number of entrants will be 24 in the 75MHz band, 6 in the 27MHz

band and open in the 2.4 GHz band.

• Boats must be registered with the CR 914 class, comply with the class rules, and

bear sail numbers as specified in the class rules.

• Class-approved bow bumpers will be required

3. Format

Races will be conducted and scored in accordance with the Odd/Even Format (available on

the AMYA website) and modified by the Sailing Instructions, depending on

number of boats registered.

4. Registration

Entries will be accepted, at your earliest convenience, using the posted Entry Form on

accompanied by entry fee of $20.00 on a first-come / received basis and you will be notified

of your entry acceptance and frequency assignment. Final registration at South Florida

Model Sailing Club (C.B. Smith Park, Shelter #17)

5. Awards

• 1st , 2nd and 3rd 1st Grand Master (70 and over)

Hello.  

My Name is IV McNamara.  Ernest has asked me to take on the task of keeping the website up to date.  I am learning a new Content Management System here so please be patient as I make a few mistakes and learn from the experience.

For those of you who took a few minutes to respond to the survey I want to thank you. 57 people responded and I wanted to share some of the results with you.

  • 33 of the respondents were interested in attending, but only 6 would say they are 100% committed at this point. 20 said they were 0% committed. So that leaves a lot of people on the fence. Which is expected at this point.
  • The vast majority expressed interest in a clinic. So I will work on arranging that.
  • 2/3 of the respondents said they preferred the weekend of September 27th & 28th for the regatta.
  • Sadly only 3 said they wanted a black tie party with the event, the majority said a casual events, or they like to not wear pants.
  • Most people thought $100 was a fair price to pay.
  • 72% of the respondents said they would be flying solo if they came. Luckily my wife agrees with you.
  • Many out of towners liked a 3 star lodging option at about $100 per night. We will work on finding a deal on a hotel room for the event. One person said they were going to stay in a van down by the river.
  • To my surprise the store purchased trophy was the preferred “award.” Glad I asked!
  • The participation gift was the only category that didn’t have a clear leader. T-shirt came in first with only 27% followed by hat at 25%.

Expect to see a NOR in the next few weeks!
